Las Vegas will host a Formula 1 race in 2023, adding to the list of races in the United States. Moreover, interestingly the race will be held at night.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place in November and be one of three races in the United States, joining Miami and Austin, Texas.
Las Vegas actually hosted races in 1981 and 1982, but this will be the first time an F1 car has raced in Las Vegas, with the circuit past famous hotels and casinos. The track has 14 corners, is 6.12 km per lap, with an estimated top speed of around 342 kph.
“This is an extraordinary moment for Formula 1 which demonstrates the immense appeal and growth of our sport with the third race in the United States. There’s no better place to race Formula 1 than in the world’s global entertainment capital and we can’t wait to be here next year,” said F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“Las Vegas icon and Formula 1 as the pinnacle of motorsport, is the perfect blend of speed and luxury. Our belief in this unique opportunity was evident in the decision to take on the role of promoter of the Las Vegas Grand Prix in partnership with Live Nation,” said Liberty Media President and CEO Greg Maffei.
