British car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially collaborated to develop an autonomous car. Originally launched in 2025. Later, Nvidia will develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system.
The AI will be applied to the computer brain and network system of Jaguar and Land Rover cars produced from 2025 onwards.
This collaboration is a new step for Nvidia Corp., expanding its reach in the automotive sector. The company typically focuses on gaming, artificial intelligence, and high-powered software semiconductor chips used for servers.
As for Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Pic, this partnership is expected to be able to fight rivals Tesla Incorporation and others in the digital technology sector.
“Jaguar Land Rover will be the creator of the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles and services for the smartest customers. Our long-term strategic partnership with Nvidia will open a world of potential for our future vehicles as it continues its transformation into a truly global digital powerhouse,” said Thierry Bollore, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.
Later, all products released starting in 2025 from the JLR company will use the ‘Nvidia DriveTM’ software platform. Which will power a variety of systems including active safety features, semi-autonomous driving system, driver monitoring and advanced visualization around the vehicle aka 360 camera, but more sophisticated.
This Nvidia Drive system will be supported by the ‘Drive OrinTM’ processor which will run the upcoming Jaguar Land Rover operating system. This operating system will use the ‘Drive AV’ and Drive IX’ software. Not only that AI technology will also be embedded for accurate real-time physical simulation, this system is also connected to over-the-air updates to provide innovative assisted and automated driving.
